Just as a July 4th fireworks display is impactful – noticeable and memorable, so also God calls Christians to impact our world with the Gospel of Jesus in a way that others notice and remember. With so much in the world that distracts us from Christ, this can be a daunting and sometimes discouraging task for the Christian. But God equips us well for this important task. Our sermon series for July will highlight four of the most powerful tools God gives us to impact our world with the Gospel.
On Sunday July 20th, God will remind us what a life of Christ-like service looks like. This will provide us an opportunity to highlight our church body's service to those serving our country in the military.
On July 27th, God will remind us of the comfort and power of prayer. When we speak to God, he listens. When we pray, he answers. Always with love. Always with grace.

CAN ANYONE USE THE PICKLEBALL COURTS AT ANYTIME?
Yes! The pickleball courts are open and ready to be used whenever you might show up to play.
Courts are open daily from 7 am to 10 pm.
In order to help coordinate play times, the pickleball community uses an app called Playtime Scheduler. This app helps players find opponents that match their skill level and also find available courts on which they can play. Our new courts went ‘live’ on this app on July 9th. This is where our church event times will be announced, and where you will be able to communicate with your fellow pickleball players about schedules and such. You can access this app by searching for "playtime scheduler" in your app store or by going to playtimescheduler.com.

What should you do if you have something you want communicated to the members of our church?
Contact our COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR – Jeannie Bailey
TheMission Church communicates in a variety of ways: Weekly E-newsletter, monthly BMM updates, bulletin announcements, slides before/after worship, verbal announcements, text messages and emails through the Church Center app, postal service, website, and social media (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube).
Each of these methods of communication targets a mixed variety of audiences. For example, not everyone who receives the weekly email reads our worship bulletin or attends worship to hear verbal announcements.
Not every method of communication has the capacity to communicate everything we do. For example, bulletin space is limited each week depending on a number of factors, but there is no limit to what we can include on our website or in the Church Center app.
Not every method of communication is useful for including everything. Email experts, for example, recommend including no more than 4 major announcements in one email since most people expect emails to be short and to-the-point. Emails that are too long often go unread or are not read all the way to the end.
In order to make sure that each announcement/communication reaches its intended audience, we have designated one person to receive all communication requests and manage those requests, along with the pastor, to make sure they find their appropriate place within our communication plan.
If you would like to have an announcement communicated to the congregation, all communication requests should be sent to Jeannie Bailey.
You can contact Jeannie in-person or via:

TIP OF THE WEEK
Did you know that TheMission keeps a current up-to-date calendar of the most complete collection of happenings at TheMission such as Bible studies, worship services, congregational meetings, and events? DOWNLOAD (OR RE-DOWNLOAD) THE CHURCH CENTER APP
The Church Center app is the place where you can access all things related to ministry at TheMission most quickly. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your Church Center app experience:
- Regularly check for updates to the Church Center app. They come regularly, and older versions of the app don't always play nice with your phone.
- If you're having problems with the app, even after you've checked for updates, you may need to uninstall your current app entirely (delete it from your phone) and then download the most recent version.
Also, if you need help installing the app, CLICK HERE to access a document that will take you through the individual steps.

BUILDING PROJECT
- The proposed campus expansion plan includes the following phases, to be carried out aggressively and wisely as the Lord leads:
- Phase 1 – Site work and chapel
- Phase 2 – Early Childhood Center
- Phase 3 – Elementary School
- Phase 4 – High School
- Brayton Construction (braytonconstruction.com) is the builder for Phase 1 of the project. They are located locally in Conroe.
- All necessary permits for the project have been approved.
- Financial commitments to the Building Project continue to come in from members and friends of the congregation. Recent commitments have put us in a very strong financial position to carry out Phase 1 of our campus expansion.
- The WELS Church Extension Fund (CEF) is officially working with us to provide project financing. One of the benefits of working with CEF is that they provide a $750,000 grant to first-time building projects (like ours) to WELS Home Mission churches.
- June 25th, 2024 - The Building Committee met with the builder, architect, and engineer to finalize total project costs.
- July 1st - TheMission Building Committee and Board for Mission and Ministry (leadership team) met to discuss all aspects of the project and develop a plan for presentation to the congregation, along with a recommendation for future action.
- July 14th - TheMission Building Committee presented the plan to the entire congregation for feedback and consensus for the plan.
- July 21st - Groundbreaking event occurred at 7:30pm. Around 70 people gathered around the Word of God, as we thanked God for his generosity to this ministry, asked him to graciously lead us, sang songs of praise, and ate cupcakes.
- July 29th - The builder began prep work on site.
- Sep 23rd - The chapel foundation was poured.
- Oct 7th - The framing of the chapel began.
- Dec 15th - A Beam Signing (“Holy Graffiti”) Event occurred at the new church building. During this event the congregation added their personal, lasting touch to the building by writing Bible passages, blessings, prayers, or anything else they wished on the still-exposed wooden beams.
- Jan 6th, 2025 - You may know that there is small house on the property located on the south side of Glenmar Drive. That house has been renovated. There is still some work to be completed but it can now begin to be used for smaller meetings and storage.
- Jan 25th, 2025 - The electrical walk-through took place. This included walking through every part of the project to make sure every aspect of the electrical work was exactly where we wanted it to be.
- As of February 10th, 2025, Brayton Construction anticipates a Phase 1 project completion date of June 27th, 2025. We’re still far enough away from that date that it can change depending on weather. There have been few, if any, delays related to building supplies. (The original estimated completion date for Phase 1 was mid-July 2025.) <-- Note: On March 17th, the anticipated completion date was pushed back slightly to July 8th.
- May 13th update: Brayton Construction continues to say that major construction will be completed by July 8th. After that date, however, there will be additional work that will need to be completed for the audio/visual systems and
chair/pew installation. August 17th is a ‘safe’ date for the first worship service. We feel we can say with certainty that all will be ready by then, but not before then. If all things are ready earlier, we can move this date forward.

- Feb 10th, 2025: We are beginning preliminary planning for the public dedication of the building/campus. Even if the project is completed by the end of June, at this point we feel it’s safer to plan on a Fall dedication date/event. We would begin to use the building for worship and ministry as soon as it’s completed.
- Feb 10th, 2025: The campus house renovations are now completed. Renovations included new insulation, dry wall, flooring, and interior paint, along with some cabinetry work, AC repair, and exterior pressure washing. The space has been used quite a bit already for TheMission Mindset classes on Monday nights, Wednesday Night Bible Class, MissionMen Bible Study, and also as a temporary pastoral office/meeting space.
- Mar 7th, 2025: Installation of our campus pickleball courts began.
- June 2nd, 2025: The pickleball courts were completed and are ready for use.
- June 13th, 2025: The campus pickleball courts have already gotten the attention of neighbors and have been used and enjoyed by members of TheMission. During Wednesdays in June, we are hosting Pickleball Night @ TheMission from 6:00 pm until the sun goes down. All are welcome to attend.
- June 30th, 2025: The piano was delivered/installed.
- July 8th, 2025: The first of two punch list walk-throughs was completed.
- July 9th, 2025: The Pickleball courts were listed on Playtime Scheduler as being open for public use daily from 7 AM - 10 PM.
- A play session posted on PlayTime Scheduler is NOT a court reservation but does let others know when you will be playing.
- July 7-11, 2025: A/V Installation occurred.
- Some additional dates things are expected to occur are as follows:
- July 17: Internet installed by this date
- July 21-25: Delivery of worship seating
- August 16: A/V Training
- Upcoming Dates of Interest:
- Aug 17th, 2025: First worship service in the new chapel at 9 am
- Sep 28th, 2025: Public Dedication and Grade Opening of the chapel at 4 pm

Phase 1 Weekly Update
FINAL PREPARATIONS (AND FINAL UPDATE)
Though we're a couple of weeks away from the first scheduled worship service in the new chapel (August 17th), this will be the last weekly update. The look of the building and landscaping will still change slightly, but not substantially after this point.
This past week, representatives from TheMission, the building team, and the architectural firm met on campus for the first of two punch list walk-throughs. This is where we evaluate every aspect of the project down to the smallest details and identify any items that need to be fixed or adjusted by the builder prior to considering the project completed. While the list had a couple of dozen items, there was nothing substantial. It was mostly cosmetic fixes. Our builders have done a great job! The chapel is nearly ready! Another walk-through will take place this week to evaluate progress once again.
The pictures here show the latest exterior updates. The patio and landscaping are nearly complete. Our outdoor space will be a wonderful area for gathering. It will soon include seating for dozens of people. The landscaping provides a very 'finished' look to the campus.
We don't have any updated pictures of the interior to share, but it was a very busy week in the worship space as the Audio-Visual installation put in many hours. They installed speakers (inside and outside), lighting, projectors, televisions, and connected our audio connections to the soundboard, which sits next to the camera controls (there are five livestream cameras installed in the worship space) and lighting controls (you'll be amazed by how we'll be able to control and adjust the lighting in the worship space). Much of what they installed will be basically invisible to the average worshiper's eyes. In other words, they won't get in the way of anyone being able to focus on the message from God's Word that will be shared each week. All of this is installed to enhance that.
There is one particular part of the audio system that is worth mentioning. We are installing a system that will easily provide sound directly to a person's hearing aids in order to help those who have hearing difficulties to get the most out of worship each week.
Because there will be very few parts of the project that will change over the next few weeks, we are anticipating that there won't be new pictures to share as we move forward.
So plan to join us Sunday, August 17th (or any Sunday afterward) for our first worship service in the new space to see everything for yourself.
We are grateful to God for how he has guided this project. Please join us in praying that the last few tasks to be accomplished will go smoothly, and that the worship space will be a special place where the Gospel can be found easily.

Early Childhood Ministry Update (Phase 2)
- On May 12th 2025, the Board for Mission & Ministry decided to postpone the opening of an Early Childhood Center on our campus until 2027 at the earliest.
- The reasons for the decision are included in May 2025's Monthly Ministry Update.
- Some history of our Early Childhood Ministry planning:
- Jan 13, 2025: As we were planning for the development of Christian education options on our campus at TheMission we thought it wise to consider partnering with willing organizations who have a strong record of organizing, operating, and maintaining schools that complement the church’s primary mission of sharing the Gospel. One of the organizations we reached out to was Divine Savior Ministries.
- Divine Savior Ministries (DSA) is a WELS ministry that operates multiple preschools, elementary schools, and high schools in Florida and Texas. All of their campuses include both a school and church. Their schools are all called Divine Savior Academy. Their churches are all called Divine Savior Church. They have been in existence since 2001. - Feb 17, 2025: On Monday Feb 17th a meeting with Brayton Construction was held to discuss pricing for the construction of the Early Childhood Ministry Center.
- March 2025:
- Christian Education Coordinator: Mr. Jim McConnell agreed to serve in this position. Mr. McConnell has served 35 years in Christian education/ministry.
- We have received the initial cost estimate for the construction of the Early Childhood Ministry Center. The cost to build 6 classrooms, offices, reception area, and indoor play space is around $4.5 million. That cost does not include needed furniture, desks, playground equipment, signage, or school supplies.
- March 30, 2025: Congregational meeting regarding Early Childhood Ministry (ECM) occurred after worship.
- A copy of the meeting handout can be found HERE.
- March 31, 2025: A survey was distributed to obtain feedback from the congregation.
- Thank you to everyone who completed the Early Childhood Ministry survey. Your feedback and input was vital in directing our next steps toward the future of this ministry.
- May 4, 2025: A follow-up Congregational Meeting regarding ECM occurred after worship.
- Pastor Carlos Leyrer from Divine Savior Ministries was with us and shared more detail about their ministry and answered questions about what a ministry partnership may look like.
- A video recording of the meeting can be found HERE.
- A copy of the slides Pastor Leyrer shared with the congregation can be found HERE.
- May 7, 2025: A survey was distributed to obtain feedback from the congregation.
- Thank you to everyone who completed the second Early Childhood Ministry survey. Your feedback and input was vital in directing our next steps toward the future of this ministry.
- May 12, 2025: The results of the survey was evaluated by our church Board for Mission and Ministry at their regular May meeting. They decided to postpone the opening of an Early Childhood Center on our campus until 2027 at the earliest.
